Who we are
Soar Scholar is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization founded by Nikisha Hamilton in 2019. Our goal is to create a meaningful impact in the lives of scholars through our various initiatives. We intend to increase access to education, educational tools, and resources to scholars in rural and marginalized communities.
Mission:
Cultivate and inspire young scholars to understand
the importance of scholarship, service, and leadership.
Vision:
Provide scholars in Jamaica W.I. an equal opportunity for educational
advancement from primary, secondary, tertiary levels.
Board Members
Jabina Coleman LSW, MSW, IBCLC
Vice President
Licensed Social Worker and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She received her bachelors of science from the Pennsylvania State University, and her Masters in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice. More than a decade serving women, children, and families. Jabina engages with communities through her work as the owner of Life House Lactation & Perinatal Services, LLC, where she provides lactation consultation services and reproductive psychotherapy with a focus on perinatal mental health. As evidenced by her work, Jabina’s passion for motherhood and social justice are intertwined - she educates and empowers families along their parenthood journey while dismantling systemic barriers impeding on a culture of health.
Ashneak Russell
Assistant Secretary
Graduate of Northern Caribbean University in Jamaica W.I., with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and Television Production. She is the founder of a non profit organization, Cheapside Early Childhood Institution Past Students Association (C.E.C.I). Her organization aims to assist students academically in rural communities in Jamaica W.I. Ashneak is passionate about creating positive changes in the lives of children through her volunteer effort and skills to the forefront in helping our organization grow and succeed.
Nikisha Hamilton RN, MSN, NP-C
Founder & President
Founder and President of Soar Scholar Inc. Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 17 years of clinical experience. She received her Bachelor of Science from the Pennsylvania State University, and her Master of Science in Nursing from Pace University. She is dedicated to serving diverse communities and populations by promoting and improving health literacy, highlighting various health disparities among minorities and marginalized communities to create change. Her altruistic efforts are evident through her various volunteer work with other non profit organizations, and her commitment to increasing and providing access to educatio for those in need.
Tyrone Augustus
Secretary
Founder and President of Y.E.Y Global Foundation. It encompasses a group of young vibrant individuals who are passionate about serving and empowering other youth. He is passionate about evoking and creating change in the lives of young adults to become innovative leaders, change agents, and improving their self-confidence. He has served and dedicated his time as a youth counselor on various youth boards. He is currently pursuing a BA in Primary Education at Northern Caribbean University.
